E10: 4.1 Linking classes with equal number of periods to Aurora

Modified on Thu, 14 Aug at 12:42 AM

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Preamble

Aurora College started as NSW's virtual selective school servicing rural and remote students in Stage 4 and 5. It has grown to encompass a non-selective Stage 6 cohort.

The aim is to allow students to enjoy a depth of study that was not previously available to them.

Lessons are delivered online synchronously to students in their school, by teachers in similar settings.

Notes
Before linking any classes, please check the Period allocations tab in Class data to ensure the period count for English, Maths & Science classes does not exceed the number of periods required for Aurora.

Home School Line Classes

When the home school classes are on a line and the number of periods match the Aurora classes, you can simply link the class on the line to the selected Aurora group. It is best practice to link the first class on the line to the selected group by adding the Aurora class ID into the Link column for the respective class in Class data (F6):

When you add these classes to your Master grid (F11) you will now see they all align under the selected Aurora group which in the example is the Green group:

Home School Group Classes

When the home school classes are in groups and the number of periods match the Aurora classes, you can simply link the group that the corresponding student is in to the selected Aurora group:

After adding these to the Master grid (F11) you can see how the appear under the Green group with the Maths line already there:

Notes
Please note that for junior levels the home school classes don't have to be scheduled at the same time as the Aurora counterparts. For example a year 7 English class does not have to be timetabled at the same time as the Aurora English class. A home school Maths or Science class can be aligned instead.

Home School Group Classes Half-blocked

When the home school class is a group class and it runs at the same time as one or more classes of the same subject, add the Aurora Group code to the Link column of the first class. In the example below, the Science classes run in pairs; 8SCI1 is linked to Aurora and 8SCI2 is linked to 8SCI1.

And once Science is added to the Master grid (F11) both 8SCI1 and 8SCI2 will sit under the Green group along with the English group and Maths line:

Info
FYI E10 can and will likely place other classes under the Green/Pink groups and this is normal! Above is just an example of how all three classes look under a coloured group.
Notes
You have now successfully added all required periods to fill the Aurora complement and are ready to move onto creating your Science practical lessons
